THE ACCIDENTAL ANALYST / FAST DATA SECRETS, LLC
Terms of Service
Terms for Dashboard Preflight, MyDataCanvas, The Accidental Analyst Society, and our other educational offerings.
1. Operator, acceptance, and scope
These Terms govern The Accidental Analyst website and applicable digital products, paid plans, training, reports, downloads, and the private Society community operated by Fast Data Secrets, LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, purchasing a product, or using a service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy & Data Handling notice, subject to applicable law.
Our products may be sold by Stripe, Polar, invoice, or another identified payment platform. Features, usage allowances, and plan entitlements are determined by the applicable sales page, checkout, and written agreement at purchase. A free mailing-list signup or an inquiry form is not a purchase.
2. Dashboard Preflight terms
What it does: Dashboard Preflight uses AI-assisted and rule-based checks, based on the 77 Rules methodology, to review dashboard images and supplied context for potential visual, interpretive, and decision-communication concerns. It is an advisory review, not certification that a dashboard, data pipeline, calculation, or business decision is correct.
What it cannot verify: A screenshot alone cannot independently establish data accuracy, calculation methodology, access restrictions, source-system quality, metric definitions, regulatory compliance, or the full business context. AI-generated findings may omit problems or identify false positives. Qualified people must review findings before action.
Plans and limits: The current advertised plans include Solo Monthly ($99/month, seven preflights each month), Solo Annual ($950/year, 100 preflights per subscription year), Team ($3,900/year, 35 pooled preflights per month for up to 10 authorized users), and Team Plus ($6,500/year, 60 pooled preflights per month for up to 10 authorized users). The checkout and account entitlements control any later plan changes. A preflight means one initial dashboard review; follow-up checks and iterations are subject to limits disclosed in the plan and app. There are no included free audits unless explicitly stated in writing.
Authorization: You must have permission to submit each dashboard and related context for processing. Do not upload confidential, personally identifiable, regulated, or contractually restricted information unless your organization has approved the applicable processing and third-party AI providers.
See Data & AI processing and Preflight data handling before submitting materials.
3. MyDataCanvas software terms
What it is: MyDataCanvas is a local-first analytical project workspace built around the Seven C's. It organizes project context, evidence, reasoning, QA records, and deliverables in portable project files. It does not independently validate the truth of your data, assumptions, analysis, or conclusions.
License: A paid subscription grants a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the software under the purchased plan. It does not transfer ownership of the software, methods, design, or underlying intellectual property. Do not resell, redistribute, sublicense, circumvent subscription restrictions, or reverse engineer the software except as allowed by law.
Local files: You are responsible for saving and backing up your own projects. Local-first storage does not prevent data from being transmitted when you intentionally use connected third-party tools, cloud providers, or sharing/export features. You are responsible for ensuring that external tools are approved for your material.
Subscription and reader access: The currently advertised prices are $299/year or $30/month. Paid editing entitlements may end at subscription expiration. The advertised Permanent Reader Mode allows reading previously saved projects after paid editing access ends, subject to supported formats and product availability. This is not a promise of perpetual compatibility with all future operating systems or devices.
Annual refunds: The MyDataCanvas product page advertises a 30-day refund policy for annual subscriptions. Request a refund through the support contact below within 30 days of the applicable annual charge, subject to the refund conditions disclosed at checkout. Monthly charges follow the refund terms disclosed at checkout and applicable law. The billing provider's subscription cancellation controls future renewals.
4. The Accidental Analyst Society community terms
Access: The Society is a private discussion and chat community for verified customers and qualifying former students approved by us. No separate Society membership fee is currently charged. Eligibility may be verified using purchase history or individually granted for former students who purchased eligible training outside Stripe. A member's access to paid courses, paid recordings, ZIP files, or private corporate services is separate from Society access.
Participation: Be respectful. No harassment, threats, doxxing, unlawful material, spam, unsolicited promotions, credential sharing, scraping, impersonation, or unauthorized commercial solicitation. Do not post client or employer confidential material, private financial information, personal data, copyrighted files you cannot distribute, or content subject to confidentiality restrictions. Do not assume another member has permission to view or use your employer's data.
Privacy and visibility: Society discussions and chat are visible to authorized participants and administrators and may appear in notification emails, backups, and moderation records. This is a private membership community, not a confidential client workspace. Other members may quote or save what they can view; do not post information you could not share with the group.
Moderation and continuity: We may edit, restrict, remove, or preserve content for safety, rule enforcement, or legal compliance, and suspend access where necessary. Society access is designed to continue after a qualifying purchase or subscription expires while the Society operates, but it does not guarantee perpetual operation of a particular community platform. Stephen's participation is periodic, not 24/7 support or guaranteed individualized consulting.
Software: The Society is planned to use a self-hosted Discourse community with email-based single sign-on. It is not operated by Discord. The platform may create a separate session cookie and records needed for forum and chat operation.
5. The Data Craft Workshop
The public Data Craft Workshop is a recurring, group-based learning program using Stephen's prepared examples and working materials, distinct from confidential corporate Practice Lab engagements. The advertised fee is $450 per quarter. Paid membership includes the scheduled live group sessions, available recordings, and working files during the access period; individual project review is not included.
Refunds: For a first purchase, request a full refund within 14 days, no questions asked. For an unintentional quarterly renewal, request a full refund within seven days if you have not attended a new live session or accessed new paid workshop materials during the renewed period. Cancellations stop future renewals, with access continuing through the paid period. Planned holidays and breaks mean approximately 46 sessions per year, not 52. If the program is permanently discontinued, unused paid access is refunded on a prorated basis, except as required otherwise by law.
6. Payments, billing, and cancellation
Payment amounts, billing period, applicable taxes, subscription auto-renewal, quotas, and scope are displayed on the relevant product page or checkout. You authorize the payment processor to charge the selected subscription or one-time purchase. Unless a specific product refund policy, checkout statement, or written agreement says otherwise, payments are nonrefundable except where required by law. Cancel recurring subscriptions through the payment provider's available account or billing tools, or contact us for help. Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not automatically refund the current period.
Company training, executive mentoring, and team Practice Lab services may be subject to separate written statements of work covering confidentiality, deliverables, recording, participant access, scheduling, cancellation, and ownership of client materials. Those agreements govern where they differ.
7. Data, privacy, and AI service providers
You retain ownership of materials you are authorized to provide. You grant us the limited permissions necessary to process submitted content, produce requested outputs, administer access, support your account, and fulfill the purchased service. We will not use identifiable client dashboards or projects in public examples or marketing without permission.
Dashboard review features can involve commercial AI service providers, and specific retention or deletion behavior may differ among products and configurations. You must obtain permission to use the applicable processing service before uploading content. Do not assume that a visual review independently verifies the underlying source data. See our Privacy & Data Handling notice and any written enterprise terms for data processing, retention, deletion requests, and backup limitations.
Do not submit payment card numbers, protected health information, restricted personal information, trade secrets, or data subject to special legal restrictions unless explicitly authorized and covered by an appropriate written agreement.
8. Accounts and acceptable use
You are responsible for the security of your login links, devices, and accounts and for activity authorized through them. Do not bypass access controls, usage quotas, payment gates, AI-processing restrictions, or technical security measures; interfere with service availability; attempt unauthorized account access; or use bots and scraping without written permission. Contact us promptly if an account is compromised.
9. Ownership and educational use
Our websites, software, training materials, trademarks, prompts, workflows, original documentation, and methods remain owned by Fast Data Secrets, LLC or its licensors. You retain ownership of material you supply. Paid access provides the license expressly included in the purchased product; it does not grant a right to redistribute course recordings, member ZIPs, subscription software, or protected community content. Personal or internal business use of provided educational materials is permitted within the purchased license or written agreement.
10. No professional advice or outcome guarantee
Services provide education, analytical tools, and decision-support information, not legal, financial, tax, accounting, investment, regulatory, or other licensed professional advice. Analytics, AI-assisted outputs, checks, and discussions can contain mistakes, omissions, false positives, or misleading interpretations. You are responsible for verifying data, definitions, assumptions, security approvals, and recommendations before acting.
11. Disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and disputes
To the fullest extent allowed by law, services are offered "as is" and "as available" without a promise of uninterrupted availability, error-free outputs, or detection of every possible problem.
Limitation of liability: To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total aggregate liability arising from a particular service will not exceed the amount paid for the service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, reputational damage, or interruption of business, to the extent permitted by law.
Indemnity: To the extent allowed by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Fast Data Secrets, LLC and its owners, staff, and service providers against third-party claims arising from materials you submitted without authorization, your unlawful or prohibited use, or your violation of third-party rights.
Governing law: These Terms are governed by Florida law without regard to conflicts principles. Where legally permitted, disputes will be brought in the appropriate state or federal courts located in Florida. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer protections or rights that cannot be waived by contract.
12. Changes, suspension, and service continuity
We may make reasonable changes to features, plans, rules, and these Terms and communicate material changes through the site or appropriate account notices. New terms apply prospectively as permitted by law; an existing signed agreement controls where applicable. We may suspend access for nonpayment, misuse, or security concerns. Provisions meant to survive termination, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, and dispute terms, survive to the extent lawful.
13. Contact and data requests
For support, refunds, cancellation assistance, data access or deletion requests, and questions about these terms, contact stephen@accidentalanalyst.com. Include the product name and the email address associated with your account, but do not email sensitive files or passwords.
For more on information collection and data requests, see Privacy & Data Handling.
